Thank you for visiting the web site of the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen. We sincerely hope you enjoy your visit. It gives me great pleasure to represent this chapter and represent the great Tuskegee Airmen. As recent recipients of the Congressional Gold Medal, the Airmen have been formally recognized for their persistence, perseverance and determination in overcoming obstacles of racism and segregation. Since our chapter was chartered in 1998, we have committed to preserving the legacy of the men and women whose history had been forgotten. We have done so through our Tuition Assistance program, our Family Day in the Park, our Red Tail Youth Flying Program and through numerous speaking engagements and various media events. We are committed to preserving the legacy of the Airmen and to affect the lives of the youth of the Hudson Valley. The men and the women of the Army Air Corps at Tuskegee, Alabama set the example that we all should strive to pursue, a commitment to equality, and a steadfast belief in one's own ability and talents. Although Tuskegee was labeled as an "experiment", these brave men and women saw it as an opportunity to serve their country as any other American had the right to do. Their courage, determination and pursuit of excellence drove them to overcome all barriers and obstacles that were placed in front of them. In our 9 years of providing scholarships, our Tuition Assistance Program has awarded $82,000 to 72 Recipients. We are currently in the process of endowing our Tuition Assistance program that will be placed in a local foundation. Please join us in continuing the legacy by making a charitable donation to our Tuition Assistance Endowment fund. Your charitable contribution is tax deductible. If you are a Federal or a NY State employee, you may contribute via Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) or NY State Employee Federated Appeal (SEFA). Our CFC Number is 97801 and our SEFA Number is 82-404. Please check with your employer for further information. Once again I would like to say Thank You, and enjoy our site.
